Purpose: The Church Council at First Church has two primary responsibilities. They are: (1) planning and implementing a program of nurture, outreach, witness, and resources, and (2) the administration of its organization and temporal life.

Meetings: The Church Council meets throughout the year. The time and place of the meetings are published in the Church Bulletin and Midweek Messenger.

Membership: The membership of the council is determined annually by the charge conference. The council consists of persons who represent the program ministries of the church as outlined in Section 243 of The Book of Discipline.
